Apples, apples and more apples!


From the settlers' first occupations remains today the apple growing given the rocky soil and undulating land. James Fisher who planted the first orchard around 1800, could certainly never have imagined that his passion for apples would become one day the very flourishing industry of our region. The Suroît region, which comprises Hemmingford, Covey Hill, Franklin, Havelock and St-Antoine Abbé is the third most important apple region of Québec: over 2 000 hectares of orchards, not less than 140 apple growers! Several of them set up picnic areas in the orchard, provide tractor rides and besides U-Pick, sell vegetables and maple products.
